Looking for a New Start?

Did life ball-up on you? Get in over your head with entanglements, hurts, frustrations, survival? Can’t remember the last time you heard God speak to you? Need a new start? I Can’t Remember is a song for such times.

Sometimes we need to step back and reflect on exactly what is going on. King David gives us an example of sitting before God. In 2 Samuel 7:18, David just learned of God’s great favor through the prophecy Nathan brought to him. What did David do?

David the king went in and sat before Yahweh;
and he said, “Who am I, Lord Yahweh,
and what is my house,
that you have brought me this far? WEB

If we belong to the Lord, we do need to take time to reflect on the magnificent riches He’s given us through Jesus Christ: Forgiveness, Salvation, Peace with God, Eternal Life, the Seal of the Holy Spirit, and the Fruit that comes from His indwelling our lives.

I have come to the conclusion this is especially true when we participate in communion.

“But let a man examine himself, and
so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
For he who eats and drinks
in an unworthy way
eats and drinks judgment to himself
if he doesn’t discern the Lord’s body. “
cautions Paul in 1 Corinthians 11

Yes, we can get so busy, distracted, and frustrated, that we end up needing to revisit our first love and make things right with Him. I Can’t Remember is designed for those moments of contemplation before communion, so we don’t take it unworthily. It can also be used in our own private times of confession and reflection before the Lord.
