Do you Know?

You meet someone for the first time and the conversation usually starts with, “Hi, I’m ___” and names are exchanged. As relationships grow and change, we begin to observe what our acquaintance does. Sometimes actions are confusing, however. We find we need to ask for clarification. “Tell me more about yourself…” we may venture.

Then Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!”
And He said,
“I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and
I will proclaim the name of Yahweh before you; and
I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and
I will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.”
But He said,
“You cannot see My face,
for no man can see Me and live!
Exodus 33:18-20

“Yahweh, Yahweh God,
compassionate and gracious, slow to anger,
and abounding in lovingkindness and truth;
who keeps lovingkindness for thousands,
who forgives iniquity, transgression, and sin;
yet
He will by no means
leave the guilty unpunished…”
Exodus 34:6-7a

And so – as I pondered these self-descriptors of our Mighty God, I thought,
“we need a song to help us ponder His Character.”
After all – what better way to remember Him, than to quote His own Words?!

Blessings on you,
